Commissioning Peripheral (Z01)

The VersaSense Commissioning Peripheral with Micro-USB cable (Z01) enables the pairing of VersaSense devices with gateways and the installation of software updates from the gateway to the devices. The peripheral also provides power to a wireless device via a USB power supply.

Model Pxx: SmartMesh IP

Description

  • Each VersaSense Wireless Device acts as a wireless hub for up to three plug-and-play sensors (e.g. humidity or temperature) and actuators (e.g. relays or buzzers). A full list of compatible sensors and actuators can be found in the VersaSense Catalog.
  • The VersaSense software automatically installs and configures all necessary drivers, eliminating the cost and complexity of deploying an IoT network.
  • You can immediately interact with your sensors and actuators via a web interface or programmatically using standard REST or Web Sockets APIs.

Network Technology

  • The VersaSense IoT Fabric is designed for challenging environments such as factories, distribution facilities and data centers.
  • Model Pxx of the VersaSense Wireless Device uses SmartMesh IP from Linear Technology to automatically form a self-healing mesh network that delivers battery life of up to 10 years, 99.999% reliability and accurate time-stamping. Each wireless device acts as a repeater or ‘router’ with an approximate indoor range of 50M. This allows a single mesh network to cover very large areas, such as entire factories, office buildings, ships or trains.
  • Each SmartMesh network requires a VersaSense Edge Gateway (M01).

Description

Network Technology

  • LoRaWAN, the Long Range Wide-Area Network, provides long range and low power networking for the IoT.
  • LoRaWAN is a ‘star-of-star’ network, wherein several gateways are coordinated by a single server. Each gateway is able to cover up to 10KM, which allows even a small LoRa network to cover large geographic areas, such as a farm, campus, harbor or even a city.
  • VersaSense includes an accurate real-time clock in each LoRa device allowing for precise control over transmission scheduling and a lifetime of up to 10 years.

Model M01

Description

  • The VersaSense Edge Gateway controls a network of VersaSense Wireless Devices. The gateway provides coordination, connectivity and an interface to the VersaSensefabric:
    • Coordination: the gateway configures and manages messaging, routing and software upgrades for the VersaSense fabric.
    • Connectivity: the gateway provides Ethernet and WiFi connectivity to the IoT network. REST and web sockets APIs provide access to, and control of the VersaSense devices.
    • Interface: the edge gateway provides a simple web interface that supports network health monitoring, sensor data visualization and secure device commissioning.
  • The VersaSenseEdge Manager software automatically installs and configures all drivers, eliminating the cost and complexity of deploying an IoT network.

  • The Starter Kit Extension for Smart Builings delivers all information for practical workplace monitoring, either in a factory or office environment. Together with the Development Kit, it provides monitoring of all essential parameters determining short and long term comfort in the workplace. This kit can also be expanded into a building energy management solution, by adding sensors such as heat flux, surface temperature or pulse counter for energy providers’ metering.
